The inspiration for this post is a recent event I attended: the Prospect Burma summer party that was held on Tuesday 14 June – the birthday of its inspiration: Aung Sang Suu Kyi – a role model for women the world over: extraordinarily strong and resilient in the face of tremendous challenges, yet at the same time incredibly gracious and graceful.

We've put together a list of artworks that are all available at The Hornshaw Gallery, inspired by the nude or female form:

Wendy Hyde: Softly Softly (part of a Summer Series of Paintings)

This is an example of Wendy’s abstract artwork; I chose this painting as it conveys something very feminine: in the colours, bold yet elegant brushstrokes and overall composition.

Erene della Porta: Princess Blue and Her Gun

Barry Andrews: That’s All I Want From Life

Alice Lenkiewicz: Woman and Moon

Alice’s artwork is primarily concerned with woman’s issues. Watch this space; there will be more artwork from Alice shortly.

Beth Pearson: Caress

Joanne Coates: Liznojan(7)

Daisy Clarke: Moon Lite Room

I will end with a quote from Aung San Suu Kyi: "The best way to help Burma is to empower the people of Burma, to help us have enough self-confidence to obtain what we want for ourselves."
