GraduationYear: 2013 - 16
My work is an exploration of nostalgia and memory. A lot of the work I create is a collage of several photographs, a method I started experimenting with at university when I realised I couldn't achieve what I wanted in a single image. I also love film and enjoy the storytelling side of photography. This is something I would eventually love to develop further and translate my photographic work into moving image and film.
During university I researched a lot into the truth of photography and how we can distort reality with photographs. As humans we connect with what we visually recognise, and our initial response to a photograph is to believe its content. My work is an attempt to create a response from the viewer and for my work to be relatable, with a sense of unfamiliarity that allows the viewer to question its contents. I have noticed that I respond more to photographs that have a subject within them. The work I create has a sense of tranquility and I want the viewer to feel a sense of peace.
